VEINED (2021)

The creation of this film followed a manifesto set out by one of the lecturers at Sheffield Hallam, known as the "rule of 3's." According to this manifesto, the film's duration could not exceed 3 minutes, it could involve no more than 3 actors and 3 crew members, and all audio had to be dubbed since no on-set audio was permitted. The film-making section was also bound by the rule of 3's, allowing only 3 days each for pre-production, production, and post-production phases.

Coming from the back of the post-production and production of A Touch of Vengeance Jordan-Kane's original intention was to make something which was to create something drastically different involving elements of mystery and intrigue.

From the filmmaking perspective, Jordan-Kane was eager to push the boundaries of the use of step-printing for this particular project. This endeavour provided him with the perfect opportunity to experiment with a new approach he call's "hyper-printing," which involved using step printing within scenes without compromising the fluidity of the footage. The result was a visually distinct and abstract effect that effectively emphasized moments in time, akin to memories being recounted—a fitting complement to the film's narrative.

In addition to exploring hyper-printing, Jordan-Kane aimed to use analog footage. Overall the film shooting of this project was a creative journey filled with experimentation and refinement, and Jordan-Kane anticipates fully employing this technique in his upcoming second feature, "Nothing Goes" (2023).

This marked Harry Barron's inaugural original soundtrack for filmmaking. Jordan-Kane had a particular sound in mind, and Harry's exceptional ability to interpret his notes allowed him to craft the ideal soundscape for the film. This brief glimpse offers a look into the future collaboration between these two individuals and shows how these two creatives complement one another.
